How to Boil Peas From Frozen
Frozen peas are an easy and delicious accompaniment to a meal. If you are looking how to boil peas from frozen you have come to the right place. You can cook peas in the microwave instead of boiling them but when cooked in the microwave they become dry and tasteless. The best way to cook frozen peas is to boil them on the stove. Cooking the peas this way ensures they do not become dry and shrivelled.
Preparation before boiling frozen peas
First start by getting the utensils you will need to cook your frozen peas. You will require a saucepan, wooden spoon and butter (optional)
Boil some water ready for the frozen peas
Putting cold water in your saucepan can take up a bit of time. You may be sitting around for a few minutes waiting for that water to heat up. To speed up the process boil some water in the kettle first and then fill your saucepan. This way the water in the saucepan is already boiled saving you time.
Place the saucepan on the stove with the frozen peas
Pour the boiling water into the saucepan. Next just pour the frozen peas into the saucepan. Be careful not to fill it up too much, once the peas are cooking the saucepan could over flow from the bubbling of the boiling water. Turn the hob up quite high so that the water boils but not too hot so that the water boils over. Just keep an eye on the peas while they cook, every hob is different so its best to figure out what works best for you.
Add some butter to the peas
Adding butter to the boiling peas can make them taste a lot better. When the peas are cooking on the stove cut off some butter and add it to the boiling water. If you boil the peas with butter in the saucepan the flavour will sink deep into the peas giving them a creamy buttery taste.
How to know when the peas are cooked
It takes about 3-4 minutes for frozen peas to cook on the stove provided the water has remained boiling throughout the cooking process. To know for certain if your frozen peas are cooked give one a try! If you like your peas squidgy then leave them in longer. The longer you cook the peas the softer they will become, but they will also start to lose flavour after a long cooking session.
